Yet another brewing software!

When developing this tool, these were the goals I had in mind:

-          Match well with how a Speidel Braumeister works. The Braumeister has some limitations regarding the amount of mashing water. Therefore I preferred if the program starts with selectable amounts of mashing and sparging water. The final wort volume gets calculated from these and other settings.

-          Simple and intuitive to use

-          Always have a consistent view of the recipe. Whenever you change a single input, everything immediately gets recalculated. The recipe is always consistent.

-          Desired gravity and bitterness are inputs of the program. For the ingredients you just give the ratios. The tool then calculates the absolute values. This means it is also extremely easy to scale recipes.

-          Transparent: the main screen is pretty simple, but if desired a very detailed step-by-step overview of all calculations can be given.

-          Everything (ingredients, recipes, …) stored in human readable/editable format (xml), no ‘secret’ databases.

-          Let the mashing efficiency be just that, i.e. excluding for example volumes absorbed by malt, etc…

Installation is almost non-existing. Just download, unzip and run-it. No need to do an install, change things in the registry, etc…

You do need a PC with a .net framework. On all more or less recent (<6 year?) Windows PCs this is already present. So if you use Windows you probably don’t even need to read this section, just go ahead to the download section.

To find out what version you have on your PC you can navigate to c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework. On my PC it contains the subfolders v1.0.3705, v1.1.4322,v2.0.50727,v3.0,v3.5 en v4.0.30319, corresponding to .net 1.0,1.1,2.0,3.0,3.5,4.0. Note that there might also be a folder c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64.

If you would need to update your .net framework you can go to http://www.microsoft.com/net.

In the download section you can find versions for the 3.5 and 4.0 frameworks.

I have also successfully ran this program ‘out-of-the-box’ on Ubuntu using Mono.

Version history

- Dutch à English
- Export format for Braumeisters.net forum

- Editorial changes

- Maischstappen up/down functionaliteit

Default is nu 1.42.

 1.0 :

- initieele versie
